Discord notifications
Get private Discord messages about your macros. Optional, off until you connect. What is sent, what is kept and how to remove it.
What this is
Discord notifications are optional. LuvMacro works the same without them, and nothing is sent anywhere until you choose Connect Discord. Once you are connected, LuvMacro can send you private messages (direct messages from the LuvMacro bot) about your macros: for example when a run ends in a win or a loss, or when playback stops because of a problem.
Connect
- Open Settings. On the General tab, find Discord Notifications and press Connect Discord.
- Your browser opens Discord. Choose Authorize. LuvMacro asks Discord only who you are (the "identify" permission) and nothing else. If the browser cannot be opened, press Copy sign-in link and open it yourself.
- LuvMacro sends a short test message to your Discord direct messages. It says Connected only after that message was really delivered.
Press Cancel to stop while it is waiting. If it takes too long, choose Connect Discord again.
You need to be in the LuvMacro server
Discord only lets the bot message people who share a server with it. If you are not in the LuvMacro Discord server, LuvMacro tells you and offers a button to join. LuvMacro never adds you to a server itself. Join, then check again.
If Discord does not accept the messages
Your own Discord privacy settings can still block them. LuvMacro tells you when that happens. In Discord, open the LuvMacro server's menu, choose Privacy Settings, turn on Direct Messages, then press Try again.
If LuvMacro says Discord notifications are not available yet, nothing was connected and nothing was sent. If it says it could not reach its Discord service, check your internet connection and try again. If it keeps happening, ask in the Discord server.
What you can choose
Everything starts quiet: results and problems only, with no picture. After you connect, Settings > General > Discord Notifications shows:

Only confirmed defeats count. A result LuvMacro cannot tell is never counted as one.
Wins and losses
LuvMacro is not built around one particular game. A macro says how a run went with the Report how the run went step. A macro without it still sends the problem, started, finished and stopped messages you turned on, but no win and loss messages and no statistics. See Report how the run went.
No game comes with ready-made win and loss pictures. They have to be made from real screenshots of that game's result screens and tested. LuvMacro does not claim that detection works for a particular game.
What is sent and what is kept
- Sent. Only while you are connected, LuvMacro sends the text of the notifications you chose to LuvMacro's notification service at rowen.work: the run number, how long it took, win and loss counts, the macro name and an error code. If you turned the picture on, it also sends one JPEG (at most 1280 pixels wide) of the result screen. The service passes it to your own direct messages and does not keep the message or the picture.
- Kept by the service. Your Discord ID, encrypted, so it can message you. It expires after 180 days without use. The exact list is in the Privacy Policy, and the rules for using the feature are in the Terms of Service.
- Kept on your computer. The session counts (counts and the macro name) and the link to the service, which is encrypted for your Windows account.
- The picture. It is a copy of the game window's area of the screen at that moment, so another window on top of it would appear in it. A minimised or fully covered game cannot be seen at all.
Disconnect and delete your data
- Disconnect removes the link in LuvMacro at once and asks the service to delete its record.
- Remove my Discord data signs you in with Discord and deletes everything the service holds for your account, even if you no longer have the app.
What has and has not been tested
- Automated tests with a fake Discord cover connecting, every refusal path, private delivery, the result rules, preferences and statistics, and that none of it holds up a macro.
- The owner connected a real Discord account, and the messages arrived.
- LuvMacro handles a blocked direct-message setting and not being in the server, but the owner has not reported either one tested with a real account. A link removed on Discord's side and win and loss pictures from a real game's result screen have not been tried either.
- Roblox and other games have not been tested.
Notifications can fail, arrive late or not arrive, so do not rely on them for anything important. The feature depends on Discord and on the LuvMacro bot, and LuvMacro is not affiliated with Discord. See Known limitations.
