Free tools for creators
For producers, cover artists and YouTubers who need a quick answer or a quick edit, such as a track's tempo, a mix's loudness, a thumbnail at feed size or a file in another format, without installing software or making an account.

Overview
A catalog of 42 tools at rowen.work/tools in five groups: Audio (17), Images (13), Video (2), YouTube (8) and Files (2). One search box matches the words people actually type, such as cut song or WAV to MP3, against each tool's name, outcome and common phrases, and the filter chips show each group's real count.
Files are processed in the browser. The exceptions are stated on the page beside the button: the YouTube tools that read public YouTube data, the Thumbnail Rater's optional design review, and the one-time downloads of the engines and models that the File Converter, Background Remover and the rater's text reader need.
Every tool shares one layout: a drop zone that shrinks to one row once a file is loaded, settings beside the preview on wide screens, short help behind small question-mark buttons, and a download area that states the real output (file type, size, watermark). Each tool has its own URL, share card and help section.
What it does
Audio analysis
BPM Finder reads tempo from two frequency bands across up to five sections of the track and adds tap tempo and half or double time. Key Finder reports key and tuning. Mix Check measures integrated, short-term and momentary loudness, true peak, loudness range, tonal balance and mono compatibility, with an optional reference track and a release-readiness score out of 100 that shows every part. Audio File Info lists format, bitrate, tags and cover art, and flags files that claim to be lossless but show an encoder's cut-off.
Audio editing and MIDI
Audio Trimmer, Audio Merger with crossfades, Trim Silence, Normalize Audio, Convert Audio to WAV, MP3 Tag Editor and Audio Effects (reverse, loop, speed, distortion, bitcrush and fades) cover the everyday edits. The MIDI Editor opens or writes MIDI in a piano roll, plays it through a built-in synth and downloads MIDI or a WAV preview. Calculators give delay times, note frequencies, time-stretch results and a key's other names with its Camelot code.
Images and cover art (13 tools)
Resizer, Cropper, Compressor, Converter, Profile Picture Maker, Photo Adjustments and Color Palette work on a canvas in the page. Cover Mockup shows artwork on a phone, a player card and vinyl, Cover Art Previewer shows it in a now-playing screen and a playlist, and Cover Art Size Checker compares it with what stores ask for. Lyric Graphic makes quote cards. Background Remover and 3D Logo Generator also live here and have their own case studies.
Video (2 tools)
Audio Visualizer turns a song into an animated music video, and MIDI Visualizer turns a MIDI file into a falling-note piano video that can follow an audio bounce of the same song. Both record straight from the canvas.
YouTube (8 tools)
Thumbnail Previewer places a thumbnail and title among real trending or search results at true pixel sizes and measures where the title gets cut off. Thumbnail Safe Zone shows what the duration badge and buttons cover. Thumbnail Rater checks upload fit, contrast at small sizes and sharpness, and offers an optional design score out of 100 with written feedback. Thumbnail Downloader, Title Generator, Description Builder, Tags Generator and Thumbnail Ideas complete the group; the generators fill hand-written templates and use no AI.
Files (2 tools)
File Converter handles video, audio, images, documents, spreadsheets, archives, fonts and subtitles, and has its own case study. DAW Project Tools reads Ableton Live, FL Studio, REAPER and LMMS projects and MIDI files, lists tempo, tracks, plugins and sample paths, exports MIDI, and rewrites the saved version number so Ableton and FL Studio projects open in older versions (devices and features are not translated, and the page says so).
A catalog that answers plain questions
Search matches each typed word against the start of words in a tool's name, outcome and search phrases, ranks name matches first, and Enter opens the top result. With no search, tools are grouped by category.

How it was built
Measurements held to published standards
Mix Check computes K-weighting for the file's own sample rate and applies the BS.1770 gates and EBU Tech 3342 loudness range. Its tests build EBU Tech 3341 and 3342 test signals from sine waves and check the readings. True peak uses a 4x Kaiser-windowed sinc interpolator, and the analysis runs in a Worker built from the same source as the tested core, so there is one copy of the maths.
Every file treated as hostile
The MIDI, FL Studio, Ableton, WAV, MP3 and ID3, FLAC, Ogg and MP4 readers are written by hand. Lengths are checked before bytes are read, every loop has a ceiling, and a test truncates and corrupts generated files to confirm they never throw or hang. Text from files and inputs reaches the page only through textContent.
Keeping the design score honest
The Thumbnail Rater's total is computed in code from a weighted rubric, not taken from the model. Answers are checked against a schema, sentences that claim click-through rates or view counts are removed and counted on the page, and an unfinished answer is retried or refused. Nothing is sent until the button is pressed; the image is re-saved as a JPEG up to 1280 px wide, which drops location data, and visitors are rate-limited by a salted hash rather than a stored IP address.
Decoding at the file's own sample rate
Browsers resample decoded audio to the device's rate, which would turn a 44.1 kHz file into 48 kHz and leave a false lossless warning. The audio tools read the rate from the file header first and decode in an OfflineAudioContext at that rate, so exports keep the source rate.
